So, today, I’m going to talk about underwear.
Yep, you read that right! I just ordered another pair of THINX underwear, and before you think it’s a little TMI (maybe, it is), I’m sharing this because I think they’re AWESOME – from the product, to the mission and values, and design, and I share a discount code at the end. Warning that this post might not be for you if the mention of feminine hygiene makes you cringe (or you’re a dude and it’s not really applicable, but share with your lady friends).
So what’s THINX, and what’s the big deal?
In short, they’re underwear for periods – no more tampons or pads…could be used with menstrual cups (also a fan of these) – they’re different as well because they’re fashionable, comfortable, and are a socially-conscious and eco-friendly brand – the ideal, for me as a consumer.
They’re designed by women in New York City, and made by women in a family-run business in Sri Lanka that also works to educate and empower their women employees in becoming leaders themselves. THINX also works with women in developing countries to empower them. For every pair of THINX underwear sold, a portion goes towards AFRIpads helping women and girls in Uganda.
Although they’re a little pricey, I love them because of the patented technology that makes them light, absorbent, and clean. Since they replace having to buy other products, it eventually pays for itself. Though they don’t seem to mention the next point as much, as a bit of a tree-hugger, they eliminate any waste going into the landfill, and that’s a HUGE bonus!
I know the concept of re-usable pads isn’t new, but the technology is – allowing it to be thin and light. THINX underwear comes in various absorbencies and styles. They’re all fashionable and lacy, which is nice when it’s usually a time of month when sexy is the last thing you feel like.
My only critique, of the brand is I’d like to be more inclusive by including more diversity in women on the website – in culture, age, and size.
I ordered my first pair a few months ago – you know, because it sounded too good to be true and I wanted to try before buying more. It’s lived up to its claims. They’re good quality and easy to care for, and convenient. I had to share!

I’ll be sharing a series of my favourite products and companies in upcoming blogs. If there’s something in particular you want to see, let me know!
